Interior Ministry spokesman: Tourist companies in certain countries enticing visa holders to violate regulations during Hajj.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Talal bin Abdulmohsen bin Shalhoub, announced the success of security plans during this year's Hajj, which were developed in accordance with the guidance of the wise leadership and under the supervision of the Minister of Interior. He emphasized the integration of efforts between security agencies, the military, and government agencies responsible for serving the guests of God and ensuring their safety during the Hajj. The number of fatalities during the Hajj season was 1,301, with 83% of the deaths occurring amongst those without Hajj permits. The Colonel further noted the extensive media and awareness campaigns conducted prior to the Hajj season to discourage those who attempted to perform the pilgrimage without permits while warning that those who violated the regulations would face strict punishment. Some touring companies in various sister countries have exploited visitors, granting them visas other than for the Hajj that encourage them to violate regulations, remain in the holy capital two months ahead of the Hajj season, and evade rules. Colonel Shalhoub said that the Hajj permit was not just a transit card for ports or sorting points but rather a critical means of locating and assisting pilgrims on time, and ensuring consistent provision of necessary care and services to the pilgrims. He acknowledged the Hajj permit's absence posed an obstacle to reaching and supporting some violators. He further revealed that the security forces have repeatedly announced their arrest of those promoting imaginary Hajj campaigns within the Kingdom, ensuring their legal prosecution. He also commended some sister countries for taking strict measures against such companies and implementing corrective actions to thwart future violations.
